Dry cargo traffic increased by 15% in 2014

Dry cargo traffic in 2014 amounted to 4.140 million tons and increased by 15% compared to 2013. Container traffic increased by 14%, wood traffic by 24%, and most bulk cargo traffic by up to 70%. Traffic Luke Rijeka d.d. without containers amounted to 2,773 million tonnes and was increased by 17%.

The best results were achieved in the transhipment of bulk cargo, whose total turnover in 2014 amounted to 1.611 million tonnes and increased by 70% compared to 2013. Of this, only 1,081 million tonnes of iron ore, coal and cement were transhipped in the terminal for bulk cargo in Bakra. Most of it is the result of the opening up of the Austrian market and the return of partners whose goods, after about twenty years, are re-transiting through Rijeka’s port and the bulk cargo terminal in Bakar.
